The flagship standalone MPC — built-in multi-core processor, 16GB internal drive, touch-screen workflow, and CV/Gate routing for your entire studio.
Unlike previous MPCs which were controllers for the MPC DAW software running on your computer, the MPC X is a standalone unit running on its own embedded OS via a built-in multi-core processor, with a 16GB internal drive and 2GB RAM. This provides a solid solution for running Akai's MPC software natively. While external VST/AU plugins cannot be loaded in standalone mode and the hardware is limited to eight stereo audio tracks, most of the key functionality is there and fully accessible.
This multi-view system can be a bit bewildering at first — but once we teach you the structure and the places you need to be, you can work quickly and flow through your production like any other MPC. Our step-by-step video series covers everything from the hardware layout and touchscreen navigation to sampling, beat programming, mixing and effects — giving you complete confidence with the MPC X from day one.
